Even Betrayed
The kiss gave Him away, in the garden where He prayed,
that we might all be one.
They came and took Him away, in the night, not the day,
and He knew it had to be done.
Even betrayed, He didn't lose his will.
Even betrayed, He loved them still.
Even crucified, He knew He had to die.
So you and I, could live in Him today.
From the lips of two fell lies, about Him they did despise,
the one who had done no wrong.
He offered no reply, before Pilate's weary eyes,
the one for whom they'd waited so long.
Even accused, He didn't lose his will.
Even accused, He loved them still.
Even crucified, He knew He had to die.
So you and I, could live in Him today.
The blood flowed as the crown, of thorns was pushed down,
on the head of the prince of peace.
The whips crack filled the air, as it cut skin so bare,
creating pain that would not cease.
Even bruised, He didn't lose his will.
Even bruised, He loved them still.
Even crucified, He knew He had to die.
So you and I, could live in Him today.
The cross was so much, for a body so crushed,
and the spikes found their way home.
Cursed and hung in shame, they mocked his name,
as He hung there forsaken, alone.
Even crucified, they could not break his will.
Even crucified, He loved them still.
Even crucified, He prayed for us too.
"Father forgive, they know not what they do".
"It is finished" was his cry, as He bowed his head to die.
The truth had been revealed.
But He arose, and left the grave clothes,
in the tomb that had been sealed.
Even in heaven, He still cares for you and I.
Even in heaven, He still sees the sparrows fly.
Even in heaven, we're still part of his will.
Even in heaven, He abides with us still.
And He loves, even I.
And He loves, even I.
